This Saturday, Aug. 2, a “one-day, life-changing” event will take place at the Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. Life Surge is a unique Christian gathering that gives attendees the tools to connect their faith and finances in order to make a deeper impact in their workplaces, communities and lives.
“All the things we talk about on Sunday [have] to have some application on Monday, right?” said Life Surge President Shawn Marcell. “We create, and we work, and we’re out there spending a lot of our lives creating resources to provide for our family. That’s a major component, but it’s also that those finances are meant to promote God’s kingdom on the Earth. It’s supposed to help people.”

Life Surge exists to help people step into their calling, giving believers a deeper understanding of how to steward the unique resources they have been given and utilize them for an eternal purpose. Since starting in 2020, the event has grown tremendously and become a nationwide movement. This year, the organization expects to have about 200,000 people at Life Surge events across the country.
“There is a deep hunger, a deep awakening that God is doing something in our culture, in our world and specifically in the United States,” Marcell said. “I believe that the body of Christ is waking up to the fact that there’s a powerful opportunity for the gospel to be elevated in the marketplace.”

The event has found particular purpose in today’s world because, Marcell said, “people want deep meaning.” Life Surge shows believers that the work of spreading their faith can and should be done outside of the pulpit, not just from it. Their mission field is whatever line of work God has placed them in, and their purpose is to make an impact in that space. The event is popular across ages, professions and walks of life, a fact that is reflected in the diversity of its speaker lineup.
“We want people to see that regardless of where God places you, that’s a platform to be able to bring God’s presence to it,” Marcell said. “Hearing from these different areas and industries, I think it’s powerful. Any platform God gives you, he can use you.”

Speakers include two-time national football champion Tim Tebow, comedian Jeff Foxworthy, motivational speaker Nick Vujicic, Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson and more, along with musical guests David Funk and Bethany Wohrle of Bethel Music. Each of these individuals has used their unique career paths to share their faith with others — an apt example for attendees.

“Life Surge is a day where dreams can be dreamed, where visions can be activated, and you’ve never experienced anything like this,” Marcell said. “It’s a powerful atmosphere of thousands of Christians gathered together who desire to multiply their gifts, skills, talents, finances, and make kingdom impacts that have eternal consequence.”
Life Surge will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville. There is still time to secure a ticket for the event, with discounted prices ranging from $24 to $75. To purchase tickets and learn more, click here.
